One of the first VR games coming to PS4's Project Morpheus will be a racer

Written By Kom Limpulnam on Rabu, 26 Maret 2014 | 23.38

One of the first games to publicly announce support for Sony's freshly unveiled virtual reality headset Project Morpheus is Slightly Mad Studios' racer Project Cars.

The studio announced today that it will be supporting the device, adding that players will be "blown away" once they get hold of Sony's new kit. Project Cars will also support head tracking via the PlayStation Camera, Slightly Mad Studios says.

"We're proud to announce today that Project Cars will be supporting Project Morpheus," said the studio, "giving players a totally fresh and exhilarating new perspective on what it feels like to sit in the cockpit of a high-performance machine screaming around a beautiful location."

"Virtual reality is a perfect fit for racing games since the game world literally comes rushing towards you from the distance and the increased sense of depth and speed that stereoscopic vision affords you makes this incredibly real and tangible. So when you're racing you get a much better perception of distances and position and you feel far more enveloped by that world rather than just looking through a window at it."

"Project Morpheus also allows you to see detail you might have otherwise missed… Via our interior cameras not only can you look around the cockpit and see everything from a first-person perspective, but using head-tracking via the PlayStation Camera you can also now move around the cockpit too--peer closer at some intricate detail or turn around and look out of the back window."

Sony unveiled Project Morpheus last week at GDC 2014, where Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida said that the company had experimented with delayed racer Driveclub but that the results had made him feel motion sickness.

Project Cars will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Wii U in November 2014.

Wolfenstein: The New Order CE includes host of goodies, but you have to buy the game separately

Bethesda today announced the Wolfenstein: The New Order "Panzerhund Edition," a limited-edition bundle that includes a host of goodies, but not a copy of the game itself. The $100 bundle is limited to only 5,000 units and will ship in an individually stamped footlocker-style trunk measuring approximately 20" x 10.5" x 8.5".

Included in the Panzerhund Edition is an 8-inch hand-painted Panzerhund statue and base, as well as a "classified folder" containing war documents like maps, case files, letters, and even an X-ray for protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz.

The bundle also packs in a set of 14 full-color "vintage" postcard stemming from The New Order's alternate 1960s, as well as three embroidered patches and a replica dog tag. Lastly, the premium bundle includes an "exclusive" steelbook for the game.

Again, the Panzerhund Edition of The New Order does not include a copy of the game. You'll need to buy that separately. Both the premium bundle and the game itself will launch May 20. Preordering the game guarantees you access to the upcoming Doom beta.

"Keep your preorder at your favorite retailer and we'll send you these goodies separately," Bethesda said. "This way we can ship these boxes worldwide and you're not stuck waiting for your game to come along with an oversized, expensively shipped box."

The New Order is currently in development at MachineGames for release on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. For more, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

This new zombie/monster/robot shooter for PC promises a "fresh and thrilling" experience

Tera developer En Masse Entertainment today announced that its free-to-play PC shooter Mercenary Ops 2 will be released in North America this summer as Zombies Monsters Robots (ZMR). The game launched in China in 2012 and has attracted 30 million players so far.

In development at Yingpei Games (formerly known as Epic Games China), ZMR is a third-person shooter set in an alternate world in which Earth finds itself under attack. Players will use "guns, guts, and gear" to fight their enemies in the multiplayer games.

"We are excited because ZMR brings a fresh and thrilling experience to PC shooters. Playing the huge variety of co-op missions, facing crazy monsters and boss battles, and the intense PvP is going to keep gamers coming back for more," En Masse Entertainment CEO Chris Lee said in a statement.

ZMR features a variety of game modes, including a co-op campaign and wave-based survival missions, as well as a head-to-head competitive mode. The game's co-op mode supports up to eight players, while the competitive mode lets up to sixteen players duke it out. New content will be released for the game on a monthly basis, the company said.

An alpha test for the game will be available in April before ZMR's full launch "early" this summer.

Study: Violent video games could be linked to aggressive behavior

According to the findings of a new study, children who play violent video games regularly might end up having increased levels of violent thoughts and behavior. The report is based on data from Singapore and found that children who often play violent games even believe that hitting is acceptable and can have more aggressive tendencies than children who do not play violent games.

"Just like children's bodies can be affected by what they eat, their brains can be affected by what they repeatedly do," Iowa State University researcher Douglas A. Gentile, who worked on the study, told Reuters.

Whether or not there is a link between violent games and violent behavior has been a point of debate in gaming circles and even Washington for years now. This new study doesn't conclude anything definitively and its findings aren't without controversy and debate.

The study, conducted over the course of three years, included around 3,000 children ages 8 to 17. Every year, the researchers asked the kids how often they play video games, which games were their favorites, and how much violent content was featured in the games.

The researchers also asked the children how likely they would be to physically strike someone if provoked. Other questions put to the children included asking for their thoughts about violence in general, whether or not they thought hitting was acceptable in some situations, or if they ever had dreams about hurting others. Children in the study also reported how involved their parents were in limiting how much time they spent playing games.

The study, Mediators and Moderators of Long-Term Effects of Violent Video Games on Aggressive Behavior, found that children who played more violent video games often had more fantasies about violent and reported that real-world violent was sometimes acceptable.

The correlation was about the same for boys and girls, even for children with and without a history of aggression and parents who were involved or detached from their gaming habits.

Stetson University media research professor Christopher Ferguson challenged the study.

"This is not a very good study," Ferguson told Reuters. "This data set has been criticized before." Ferguson said the design of this study is similar to a report that the United States Supreme Court struck down in 2011 in its landmark decision about violent video games.

Ferguson said one problem with the study is that children might be unlikely to self-report their feelings. This could skew the data, he argued.

"The research we have now has been very inconsistent," Ferguson said. "There may be a connection to relatively minor acts of aggression, the equivalent of kids sticking their tongues out at each other," but there is no evidence of a link to bullying, fighting, or school shootings, he said.

Will Microsoft sell off its Xbox business? It doesn't look likely

Some Microsoft shareholders, including cofounder Paul Allen's investment group, have called on Microsoft to sell off its Xbox business as a means to boost profitability. Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, who now runs the Xbox business, was even reportedly interested in unloading the Xbox unit. But the Xbox faithful can rest easy, because any potential sales sounds pretty unlikely.

Asked by a fan on Twitter if Microsoft was committed to supporting the Xbox platform for the long haul, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said, "Yes, very committed." Support for the Xbox business is strong across the company "from the top of Microsoft to the Xbox teams," Spencer said.

According to previous comments from Spencer, new Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is a "good supporter" of Microsoft Studios and the Xbox business unit itself.

Allen's investment group, Vulcan Capital, maintains that though the Xbox business has been successful, it's also detracting from Microsoft's core competencies, namely corporate customers. It's unknown if Microsoft has entertained any offers for the Xbox business.

Microsoft will soon penalize Xbox One players for bad behavior

In a blog post on the Xbox Wire today, Microsoft program manager Michael Dunn announced that notifications for the Xbox One Reputation system--originally outlined last summer--will begin to show up this month.

Players can fall into three categories of reputation score: "Green = Good Player," "Yellow = Needs Work," and "Red = Avoid Me." When you look at someone's Gamercard, you'll be able to see their reputation at a quick glance. The longer you play online without being reported as "abusive" by other players, the better your reputation score will be.

This is decided by a Microsoft algorithm that monitors disruptive behavior. Dunn said the "vast majority" of players never receive any feedback from other players and will maintain their "Good Player" status without issue. Over time, Microsoft will introduce rewards for good behavior on Xbox Live, but there was nothing to share on this front today.

For "Needs Work" players, you'll begin to receive reputation warnings this month. The purpose of these warnings, Dunn said, is to remind players about the effect their behavior has on the community and to encourage them to have "more positive interactions."

Finally, Microsoft is also now beginning to roll out penalties for "Avoid Me" players. If you do not heed warnings and continue to have a "negative impact" on other players and the Xbox Live platform itself, you're going to get in trouble. "Avoid Me" players will have "reduced matchmaking pairings" and can even have their access to Twitch broadcasting revoked.

"Remember, we designed the algorithm so it won't penalize you for bad reports over a few weeks of play," Dunn said. "The system also adjusts for false reports from people that might intentionally report someone of greater skill or for other griefing purposes."

Microsoft's overarching ambition for its Xbox One reputation system is to "create the best gaming community online" and match players with other gamers that you'll enjoy.

Oculus Rift creator -- "We promise we won't change" following Facebook buyout

21-year-old Oculus Rift creator Palmer Luckey has responded to the wave of criticism over the sale of his company, Oculus VR, to social networking behemoth Facebook.

The $2 billion deal was announced yesterday and Luckey has been busy responding to questions on Reddit. Below are some key points Luckey made in his extensive Reddit feedback thread regarding the blockbuster acquisition.

Luckey doesn't think you'll still be mad a year from now:

"I won't change, and any change at Oculus will be for the better. We have even more freedom than we had under our investment partners because Facebook is making a long term play on the success of VR, not short-term returns. A lot of people are upset, and I get that. If you feel the same way a year from now, I would be very surprised."

You won't need to log into Facebook to use Oculus Rift:

"I guarantee that you won't need to log into your Facebook account every time you wanna use the Oculus Rift."

On how the Facebook acquisition will affect the freedom Oculus Rift developers will have:

"Oculus continues to operate independently! We are going to remain as indie/developer/enthusiast friendly as we have always been, if not more so. This deal lets us dedicate a lot of resources to developer relations, technical help, engine optimizations, and our content investment/publishing/sales platform. We are not going to track you, flash ads at you, or do anything invasive. I am 100% certain that most people will see why this is good in the long term."

Oculus Rift will actually become more open:

"We promise we won't change. If anything, our hardware and software will get even more open, and Facebook is onboard with that."

"Huge investments" for Oculus Rift content could be coming:

"We have not gotten into all the details yet, but a lot of the news is coming. The key points:

1) We can make custom hardware, not rely on the scraps of the mobile phone industry. That is insanely expensive, think hundreds of millions of dollars. More news soon.

2) We can afford to hire everyone we need, the best people that fit into our culture of excellence in all aspects.

3) We can make huge investments in content. More news soon."

Support for indie devs on Oculus Rift is going to increase:

"This deal will definitely make things better. You are right, we have struggled to properly support indie devs because we had to focus our limited resources on our closest partners, that has been a failing that I want to fix. Indie developers are the ones driving this VR revolution more than anyone else, and one of my personal goals has been to support them in a much stronger way. Our developer relations/publishing team is really small right now, just a few guys. That is one of the reasons Oculus Share applications have taken so long, they get backed up behind the hundreds of developers we talk to every day. We now have the resources to put a lot of money into indie VR content, you will be seeing some good news on that very soon."

Getting rid of venture capital investors will help Oculus grow:

"Facebook is making a long term bet on VR, not a short term run on profit. We have more freedom to do what we want now that our investment partners are out of the picture."

Oculus is actually leaving money on the table by going with Facebook:

"Sure, we could have made more money down the road, but this deal was not about making the most money. It was about doing the best thing for the long term future of virtual reality. This lets us make [Oculus Rift Consumer Version 1] everything we want it to be, which is going to drive much larger sales and adoption."

Zuckerberg won't control Oculus Rift's future:

"This acquisition/partnership gives us more control of our destiny, not less! We don't have to compromise on anything, and can afford to make decisions that are right for the future of virtual reality, not our current revenue. Keep in mind that we already have great partners who invested heavily in Oculus and got us to where we are, so we have not had full control of our destiny for some time. Facebook believes in our long term vision, and they want us to continue executing on our own roadmap, not control what we do. I would never have done this deal if it meant changing our direction, and Facebook has a good track record of letting companies work independently post-acquisition."

Wed, 19 Mar 2014 06:00:00 -0700 http://www.gamespot.com/videos/castlevania-lords-of-shadow-2-revelations-dlc-trai/2300-6417782/ http://www.gamespot.com/articles/alucard-rises-in-castlevania-lords-of-shadow-2-revelations-dlc/1100-6418388/
When Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 entered its final act, Dracula's son, Alucard, stepped in and completely upended our understanding of his father and their mutual archnemesis, Zobek. There are some interesting plot twists as a result, but what exactly was he up to during the events leading up to his debut? That's where the upcoming Revelations downloadable content comes in.

"Alucard's role is given more clarity in the DLC, and players get a much better understanding of the motivations of the characters," according to Konami's Lords of Shadow producer, David Cox.

Of course, it's hard to talk about the ending to Lords of Shadow 2 without spoiling any of the twists and turns along the way, but in vague terms, the conclusion stripped most characters of their supposed role at a pivotal moment in the story. Characters who thought they were in control of their own destinies were revealed to be ignorant pawns, and others found new life, all because of Alucard's covert activities. According to Cox, the DLC "gives players a new perspective on the events of the main game. It doesn't change the ending but offers further insight into what and how certain things happened in the game."

Though he shares a few similarities with his father, Alucard feels noticeably different during combat. It's slightly jarring to start with a limited skill set after controlling a powered-up Dracula during Lords of Shadow 2, but Alucard's swords are new beasts waiting to be tamed. They fit within the dual power-up system, where one weapon saps life and the other burns through fortified foes, but his blades are uniquely balanced and feel distinct from Dracula's Void Sword. To Cox, Alucard's presence is "a chance to use a character that plays somewhat differently to Dracula. Alucard uses a sword as his main weapon, which has its own set of moves and offers players a new tree in mastery, allowing them to level the weapon up."

Alucard's new skills mix up the puzzle-solving methodology that you're used to from Lords of Shadow 2, most notably when you're using the Timeless Vision skill. Certain objects in Revelations that block your path or are in disrepair can be temporarily rewound in time, a skill Dracula surely could have made great use of during his own struggles. You can also dash to high vantage points using the new Bat Cloud skill, and pass through gates like a ghost using the Spectral Wolf transformation. Puzzles that make use of two or all three skills challenge not only your ability to solve problems, but also your speed and timing under pressure.

Revelations is almost entirely composed of new content, but you'll also run into familiar faces in familiar places. Thankfully, the enemies you fight as Alucard have been "customized to present a heftier challenge," according to Cox. Considering combat is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding aspects of the Lords of Shadow games, this sounds promising, but what of the stealth sections from Lords of Shadow 2 that hampered the overall experience? When I asked Cox if those will return in Revelations, he responded clearly: "No."

Revelations fills in a lot of gaps present in Lords of Shadow 2's plot, but it doesn't alter the ending or mention the future of its undead cast. Does that mean there's a chance we'll see more Lords of Shadow 2 DLC down the road? Nope! Revelations is the last bit of Castlevania content from Mercury Steam, which is supposedly moving on to a different series from Konami's portfolio. As for the future of Castlevania and the Belmont clan, Cox says "it's for others to write the next chapter." Also, if you're holding out for a next-gen port of Lords of Shadow 2, keep dreaming. According to Cox, there's "no chance" of that happening.

Keep an eye on GameSpot for more Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 - Revelations coverage when the game hits Xbox Live, PlayStation Network. and Steam on March 25.
Wed, 19 Mar 2014 06:00:00 -0700 http://www.gamespot.com/articles/alucard-rises-in-castlevania-lords-of-shadow-2-revelations-dlc/1100-6418388/ http://www.gamespot.com/articles/minecraft-maker-mojang-made-a-whopping-326m-last-year/1100-6418397/

Swedish developer Mojang, creators of the world-conquering Minecraft, made a whopping revenue of 2.07 billion Swedish krona (approximately $326m/£196m) last year, up from 816 million in 2012.

Of that, 816 million krona ($128m) was profit, and 821 milion went on licensing fees into a separate company company owned by Mojang co-owner and Minecraft creator Marcus "notch" Persson, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The vast majority--over 90 percent--of Mojang's money came directly from Minecraft sales, with 38 percent of its revenue from the PC version of the game, and another 30 percent from the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. That's the easiest way I can think to describe this open world puzzle game where you attempt to drive a powder blue limousine that's endlessly spinning on its axis. This means if you try to drive in any single direction you will just end up spinning donuts. It's a ridiculous constraint, but Roundabout revels in ridiculousness. In a way, its intentionally-awkward controls lend to driving what Surgeon Simulator 2013 lends to surgery. Roundabout uses its cumbersomeness to its advantage and offers up an obstacle course based around driving in circles.

When I first stepped into the driver's seat I found it almost impossible to go anywhere except into the nearest wall. Just getting the car to move in a straight line is a nigh impossible challenge best fit for a Hollywood stunt driver and not someone who regularly wipes out in Mario Kart. It didn't help that I was driving through a claustrophobic city played from a top-down perspective--similar to the early Grand Theft Auto games. Trees, other cars, lamp posts, and really cramped alleyways that I had no business driving down were the bane of my existence.

When I say "bane of my existence" what I really mean is that my car would explode if I bumped into too many things. And I bumped into a lot of things. Thankfully, the game constantly doled out checkpoints so that I could quickly retry tricky spots. This was especially helpful when I was attempting one of the game's missions, which all involved me picking up a friendly stranger and bumbling through some hellish urban maze on the way to his or her destination. Except for the one where cars started raining down from the sky. That one got a little weird.

Speaking of weird, the game also employed full motion video cinematics. These campy cutscenes provided some context for you missions, such as the lazy soccer star who wanted me to drive him to the soccer field, and then drive a soccer ball into the goal for him. The talent for these scenes is pulled primarily from developer No Goblin's own backyard of Seattle, Washington, including other local developers, YouTube personalities, and whoever responded to their brilliant casting call. No matter how vexed I got while driving, it was well worth it just to see the next super-cheesy, 70's-inspired interstitial.

You can unlock special powers for your limo, such as jumping or slowing down its rotation. Oh, and don't worry about the blood.

If all this sounds like I'm putting down on Roundabout, know that isn't my intention. Wrapping my head around its unusual control scheme was definitely a challenge at first, but after spending some time with the game I found there were moments when everything just clicked. By timing the rotation of my car perfectly I could glide in, out, and around every little obstacle without even a scratch--for a minute or two at least. There's a method to this madness, provided you don't get too dizzy along the way. Roundabout is coming to PC, Mac, Linux, and Xbox One though ID@XBOX later this year.
Tue, 18 Mar 2014 21:13:00 -0700 http://www.gamespot.com/articles/roundabout-could-be-the-surgeon-simulator-2013-of-driving-games/1100-6418393/ http://www.gamespot.com/videos/gs-news-sony-unveils-ps4-virtual-reality-initiativ/2300-6417811/ PlayStation maker reveals virtual reality initiative at Game Developers Conference; current devkit has 1080p display and 90+ degree field of view.

After 27 years, it seems as though interest in the legendary stealth series continues to grow, and though dozens of hands touch each game, including notable Metal Gear vets Yuji Korekado and Ken-ichiro Imaizumi, it's director Hideo Kojima and art director Yoji Shinkawa who are widely regarded as the head chefs in the kitchen. Without Hideo Kojima, who convinced Konami to support a stealth game during the golden age of hard-hitting, arcade-style action, Metal Gear wouldn't exist. Without Yoji Shinkawa coming on board for 1998's Metal Gear Solid, the series wouldn't enjoy the same impactful visual style that it's known for today.

I recently got the chance to speak with the pair during a visit to a Kojima Productions facility in Nasu, Japan, but before jumping into a discussion about Metal Gear Solid V, I couldn't help but wonder how they felt about a particular display set up in the corner of the room. Across three tables lay an enormous collection of Metal Gear games and paraphernalia, including the original MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear: Solid Snake, the first two Metal Gear games, which also happen to fall after Metal Gear Solid V in the series' sprawling storyline. The juxtaposition was hard to ignore. I'm at an event for the next-gen Metal Gear Solid game, and there's the original, 27-year-old game staring me in the face. No doubt Kojima and Shinkawa took a look as well. So I asked them: How does it feel to look back on nearly 30 years of Metal Gear games? Kojima hadn't only looked; he took the chance to go hands-on with the game that launched his career.

The original Metal Gear.

"Yesterday, I played the MSX version. That is my starting point, the first game I created, and I wanted to go back. So yesterday I actually sat down and played that MSX game, and it re-created the passion I had back then, and all of the feelings that I initially had when I started creating games. You know it's a game that you play with your keyboard, and I still remember when the controls were set up, the maps, the items. That gave me a lot of confidence, because today I cannot remember people's names. I was like, 'Yeah, maybe I can keep doing these things.' It gave me a lot of confidence."

As it turns out, Shinkawa is constantly revisiting old games for reference. Still, his past work, no matter how familiar, reminds him of the relationship between the artist and the work of art.

"Well, to be completely honest, all the time I look back at this stuff, especially when I recently re-created some figures from Metal Gear Solid. Or, for some illustration books, I have to go back and put everything together, so to be honest, it's not something that I haven't seen in a long time. That said, when I look at my old drawings, I always remember what I felt when I drew that, and that is very interesting for me. I remember what I was feeling when I created something very specific, and this is fun, honestly. Several times I look back and I know that I couldn't create something similar again. I like looking at the things that were very specific to that point in my life, that point in time, that I could only create back then, or that I could only create now."

Yoji Shinkawa's vision for Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid V.

Now, the duo are busy creating Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Ground Zeroes--the prologue to The Phantom Pain--is finished, and its release is just around the corner, marking the first next-gen Metal Gear game. There was a lot of hype generated by Konami surrounding the tools used to develop the game, collectively known as the Fox Engine, which was designed for, more or less, three key purposes: rendering near-photo-realistic visuals, simplifying the process of porting games between different types of gaming hardware, and facilitating the development of any type of game, Metal Gear or otherwise. Metal Gear Solid V puts all of these qualities to the test. In terms of scale and visual effects, it's the most ambitious game to date, which makes the fact that it lives on both current- and next-gen consoles all the more interesting.

It made me wonder if Kojima intended for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes to be cross-generational or if this was a reactionary decision that sprang from the need to release something in the short term, crossed with the fact that many people are still enjoying old consoles. I spoke with Kojima about this, and he made his intentions clear and addressed his concerns regarding the current hardware ecosystem.

"Yes, that was our intention from the beginning. In the future, I don't think things will be that reliant on the platform; I believe everything will be leaning towards cloud computing. And in that regard, a platform will lose relevance, so I wanted to make sure that I could create a game that could be on different platforms, in this case PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. I don't want things to be that different per platform; I want to make things that go beyond the platform, and games that can just be played, because I believe that's where we are headed."

Such sentiments aren't uncommon these days, but still, next-gen hardware is designed to facilitate new advances in visual effects, and this promise stirs up a lot of expectations from players. For Kojima, it seems that visuals are secondary to gameplay at the moment.

"This time we had to create something that could be equally played and equally enjoyed on current-gen and next-gen, especially in Japan where next-gen platforms haven't been released. For the game--maybe not as far as the visual elements, but as for how fun the game is and how it can be enjoyed--I tried to create something that could be enjoyed on all platforms. That being said, once current-gen isn't here anymore and the next-gen becomes current-gen, then I believe that we will be able to do more things." [This interview was conducted weeks prior to the release of the PlayStation 4 in Japan.]

...once current-gen isn't here anymore and the next-gen becomes current-gen, then I believe that we will be able to do more things.

I naively expected Kojima to delve into advanced graphics and gameplay design details, but it seems like he sees the advantages of next-gen hardware differently than most do:

"We are beyond the times that we're making things for one platform. We have to make things for multiple devices. In that regard, I think that I need to make sure to make things that will still talk to different devices, say smartphones or other things."

Smartphones are great for some games, but not all, and most of the enthusiasm for smartphone apps tied to console games seems to be coming from producers and executives, not consumers. When I think of the one device people want Metal Gear on, I don't think iPad; I think PC. What does Kojima think?

"PC is my original background. I cannot make a formal release yet, but I originally made PC games for the MSX...I cannot make a formal announcement, but that is something that I would really like to do."
Wed, 12 Mar 2014 09:00:00 -0700 http://www.gamespot.com/articles/metal-gear-then-and-now-with-hideo-kojima-and-yoji-shinkawa/1100-6418238/ http://www.gamespot.com/articles/how-many-copies-will-titanfall-sell-microsoft-expects-it-to-be-a-blockbuster/1100-6418265/

Respawn Entertainment's recently released multiplayer shooter Titanfall is one of 2014's first major games, but how many copies is it going to sell? The catch? The update will eat your save game.

"To enable us to deliver this new version," reads the Godus 2.0 update notes on Steam, "it means that previous saves are no longer compatible. We do apologise for this inconvenience but we know it was the best decision for the overall game."

The last update to Godus was back in October 2013. "This is the honest answer: we collated all your feedback and we realised we needed to make these vast changes to the game," said Molyneux in a video explaining the update.

22Cans has been working on this new version for the past four months, it says.

"We needed to make it because of the feedback we got from you that it was a click-fest," added Molyneux, "that you didn't really know what you were doing, or why you were doing it, there wasn't enough variation in gameplay, not many people were playing the story, not many people were playing multiplayer games. So we went back to the drawing board on the foundation stones of our features. And the reason we did that is because we really, truly want to make a great game."

Headlining Godus 2.0 is a new interface that requires far less clicking than before, with 22Cans saying the new mechanic has players hold and drag to interact with the world. Things like world sculpting is now said to be easier and more responsive, too.

The new Godus update also includes a redesigned cards system, a new GUI, and a new game mode called Voyages of Discovery.

What's not in this new update? A story mode, battles, meteors, hubworlds, and extra ages and settlements. Some players may even get stuck in an infinite loop when trying to connect.Try resetting your router or modem by unplugging it from its power source for at least fifteen seconds and then plugging it back in the game.

<ins>Crashing when accepting an invitation to a match in progress while currently in a match:</ins>

If you're in the middle of a match and accept a friend's invitation to join their match also currently in progress, your game will crash when accepting your friend's invitation. While this is by design and intentional, to complete the Campaign you must complete all the missions of the Campaign on your assigned side. You can always join the party of a friend assigned to the opposite side to get a taste of each perspective, however personal Campaign progression is limited to your completing all missions on your game-assigned side.

<ins>Kinect cannot be used for voice-comms, and Voice and microphone functionality on PC:</ins>

Xbox One and Xbox 360 players cannot use Kinect for Voice over IP, or voice-communication, in-game. Similarly, PC players with a microphone-containing-webcam set as your default microphone will have your microphone turned on automatically when playing Titanfall.

This tallies with a past report that also claimed Sony would use the annual show to unveil its competitor to the Oculus Rift.

Some third-party developers are already tinkering with a prototype of Sony's VR headset, the report claims, but it's not clear which studios are currently working with the device. Developers speaking with Edge about the device said they were not sure how viable the technology would be as a platform because VR remains a niche market, at least for now.

Sony's announcement of its untitled PS4 VR device is expected to be made during the company's "Driving the future of innovation" session at GDC on March 18. But Sony could, at least in theory, eat away at that popularity with its own device. The PlayStation brand already has millions of dedicated followers, not to mention significant marketing power to bring VR from a niche market to the mainstream.

We'll be in attendance at GDC 2014 bringing you all the news about Sony's new VR device, should it actually be announced.

Of course, Sony already has a line of dedicated head-mounted displays. But this new virtual reality headset is believed to be tailored specifically for gaming purposes.

To solve this issue, make sure before you either inviting a friend or accepting an invitation to exit to the game lobby first.

<ins>Players randomly assigned to the IMC or Militia when starting Campaign:</ins>

When starting the Titanfall Campaign, you'll be randomly aside to one of the two-opposing forces of Titanfall, either the IMC or the Militia.

If you do not wish to have your microphone on during gameplay, simply disable it in your game settings or disable it as your default microphone in your computer settings.

<ins>Some Intel processors must install specific beta graphics drivers:</ins>

PC players with specific Intel processors, specifically those with Intel Graphics, must download and install a special beta graphics driver to ensure their game runs properly.
